Thamunwal is a village of Shahkot tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Shahkot, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Shahkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029714, and it covers 408 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 802 people in Thamunwal: 421 men and 381 women, living in 127 households, an average of about 6.3 people per household. Spread over its 408 hectares, the population density works out to about 197 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 905 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 105, about 13 per cent of the village.
