Ayali Khurd is a village in Ludhiana West tehsil of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Ludhiana, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ludhiana-II community development block and is served by the Ayali Khurd , Dashmesh Nagar gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033607, and it covers 742 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 6,203 people in Ayali Khurd: 3,285 men and 2,918 women, living in 1,264 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 742 hectares, the population density works out to about 836 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 888 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 788, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 2,138 people, about 34 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.95 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.17 per cent and women at 77.1 per cent. The census recorded 1,901 workers, about 31 per cent of the village. Of the 1,834 main workers, the largest group, 1,534, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 204 cultivators on their own land and 50 agricultural labourers. A further 67 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
