Where is Bounker?

Bounker is a village of Ludhiana East tehsil in Ludhiana district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Ludhiana, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ludhiana-II community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033432, and it covers 244 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,617 people in Bounker: 890 men and 727 women, living in 275 households, an average of about 5.9 people per household. Spread over its 244 hectares, the population density works out to about 663 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 817 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 194, about 12 per cent of the village.
