Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,280 people in Gagra (Jagraon): 671 men and 609 women, living in 268 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 374 hectares, the population density works out to about 342 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 908 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 176, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 943 people, about 74 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
