The 2011 directory recorded Maloud, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dehlon community development block and is served by the Rurka gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033526, and it covers 486 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,681 people in Rurka (Ludhiana East): 1,402 men and 1,279 women, living in 521 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household.
