Where is Umarpura?

Umarpura is a village in Raikot tehsil of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Raikot, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Raikot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033747, and it covers 115 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 262 people in Umarpura: 139 men and 123 women, living in 52 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 115 hectares, the population density works out to about 228 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 885 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 26, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 48 people, about 18 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Irrigation came mainly from canals (20 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (82 hectares). About 13 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
