Where is Chhokran?

Chhokran is a village of Malerkotla tehsil in Malerkotla district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Malerkotla, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Malerkotla-I community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039483, and it covers 318 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,180 people in Chhokran: 618 men and 562 women, living in 245 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 318 hectares, the population density works out to about 371 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 909 women for every 1,000 men.
