Jagatpur is a village in SAS Nagar tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded S.A.S. Nagar, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kharar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039179, and it covers 202 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 6,673 people in Jagatpur: 3,586 men and 3,087 women, living in 1,454 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 202 hectares, the population density works out to about 3,303 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 861 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 1,080, about 16 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,359 people, about 20 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 66.87 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.16 per cent and women at 55.91 per cent.
