Where is Thathiala?

Thathiala is a village of Balachaur tehsil in SBS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Balachaur, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Balachaur community development block and is served by the Thathiala Dhoha gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032462, and it covers 95 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 546 people in Thathiala: 279 men and 267 women, living in 112 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 95 hectares, the population density works out to about 575 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 957 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 45, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 214 people, about 39 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 81.04 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.76 per cent and women at 72.84 per cent. The census recorded 240 workers, about 44 per cent of the village.
