Editorial standards

How Jugti reports, checks and corrects its stories.

Accuracy and sources

We aim to report only what we can support. Where a fact comes from a person or a document, we say so in the story, and we prefer primary sources (official documents, statements and direct accounts) to second-hand ones. When we are not sure of something, we say what we do not know.

Fairness

We try to describe people and communities accurately and fairly, to give people a fair chance to respond to serious claims about them, and to keep opinion out of news reports.

Tone

We keep a calm tone: no alarms, no autoplay and no clickbait. A headline should say what the story says.

Language

Jugti is English first. Many stories also have a Punjabi version, which you can read with the ਪੰਜਾਬੀ button. The English text is the main version.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help gather and summarise information from published sources, to draft and translate text, and to make illustrations. Pictures made with AI are illustrations, not photographs of the event. The Jugti team sets the standards on this page, is responsible for what is published and corrects mistakes. Because stories are produced this way, we do not put a personal byline on them: they carry the Jugti News Desk name.

The Kosh

Kosh entries open with a short answer, then the full story, the facts and a list of the sources they draw on. An entry that an editor has reviewed says so. Entries that have not been reviewed have not had that extra check, so please treat them as a starting point.

Sponsored content and affiliate links

Anything paid for is labelled "Sponsored". Links that earn Jugti a commission, such as links to buy a book, carry a short note beside them. Money never decides what we report or what a Kosh entry says, and a sponsor never sees a story before it is published.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. See Corrections.
