Where is Dalleke?

Dalleke is a village in Lopoke tehsil of Amritsar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Raja Sansi, about 19 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Chogawan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037303, and it covers 436 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 917 people in Dalleke: 475 men and 442 women, living in 163 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 436 hectares, the population density works out to about 210 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 931 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 106, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 244 people, about 27 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Irrigation came mainly from canals (296 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (80 hectares). About 60 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
