Where is Jasraur?

Jasraur is a village of Lopoke tehsil in Amritsar district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Ajnala, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Chogawan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037164, and it covers 1,125 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,169 people in Jasraur: 1,139 men and 1,030 women, living in 352 households, an average of about 6.2 people per household. Spread over its 1,125 hectares, the population density works out to about 193 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 904 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 253, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 324 people, about 15 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 71.56 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 77.22 per cent and women at 65.36 per cent.
