Where is Rangilpura?

Rangilpura is a village in Majitha tehsil of Amritsar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Majitha, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Majitha community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037464, and it covers 82 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 410 people in Rangilpura: 213 men and 197 women, living in 68 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 82 hectares, the population density works out to about 500 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 925 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 60, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 188 people, about 46 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 74.86 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.75 per cent and women at 68.1 per cent. The census recorded 120 workers, about 29 per cent of the village.
