Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,320 people in Bhathlan: 1,259 men and 1,061 women, living in 446 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 511 hectares, the population density works out to about 454 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 843 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 215, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 462 people, about 20 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 67.17 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 71.42 per cent and women at 62.19 per cent. The census recorded 779 workers, about 34 per cent of the village. A further 152 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
