Where is Nathana?

Nathana is a village of Bathinda tehsil in Bathinda district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Bathinda, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nathana community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035722, and it covers 2,383 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 7,738 people in Nathana: 4,104 men and 3,634 women, living in 1,515 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 2,383 hectares, the population density works out to about 325 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 885 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 754, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 2,705 people, about 35 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 65.97 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 71.5 per cent and women at 59.81 per cent.
