Where is Tarkhanwala?

Tarkhanwala is a village of Talwandi Sabo tehsil in Bathinda district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Raman, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Talwandi Sabo community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035849, and it covers 1,220 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,252 people in Tarkhanwala: 1,164 men and 1,088 women, living in 415 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 1,220 hectares, the population density works out to about 185 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 935 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 271, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 607 people, about 27 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
