The village falls in the Tanda community development block and is served by the Bhains--Awan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030655, and it covers 327 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,333 people in Bhains Awan: 668 men and 665 women, living in 302 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 327 hectares, the population density works out to about 408 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 996 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 161, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 341 people, about 26 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 74.23 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 77.31 per cent and women at 71.29 per cent. The census recorded 336 workers, about 25 per cent of the village. A further 44 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
