Where is Bhinder Kalan?

Bhinder Kalan is a village of Dharamkot tehsil in Moga district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Moga, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dharamkot community development block and is served by the Bhindhar Kalan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034035, and it covers 1,387 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 6,355 people in Bhinder Kalan: 3,362 men and 2,993 women, living in 1,233 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 1,387 hectares, the population density works out to about 458 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 890 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 704, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 2,312 people, about 36 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 70.85 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 74.57 per cent and women at 66.67 per cent. The census recorded 2,154 workers, about 34 per cent of the village.
