Where is Chahar?

Chahar is a village in Garhshankar tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mahilpur, about 21 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mahilpur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031783, and it covers 42 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 212 people in Chahar: 113 men and 99 women, living in 46 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 42 hectares, the population density works out to about 505 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 876 women for every 1,000 men.
