Where is Chima?

Chima is a village of Dharamkot tehsil in Moga district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dharamkot, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dharamkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034095, and it covers 381 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,831 people in Chima: 951 men and 880 women, living in 317 households, an average of about 5.8 people per household. Spread over its 381 hectares, the population density works out to about 481 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 925 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 223, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,065 people, about 58 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Irrigation came mainly from canals (265 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (65 hectares). Farm power supply was recorded at 6 hours a day. With 174 cultivators and 37 agricultural labourers in the census, most farm work in the village is done by landholding families themselves.
