Where is Datewal?

Datewal is a village of Dharamkot tehsil in Moga district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dharamkot, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dharamkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034092, and it covers 513 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,554 people in Datewal: 814 men and 740 women, living in 299 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 513 hectares, the population density works out to about 303 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 909 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 218, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 681 people, about 44 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
