Amargarh is a village of Khamanon tehsil in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Khamanon, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Khamanon community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032964, and it covers 154 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 509 people in Amargarh: 270 men and 239 women, living in 93 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 154 hectares, the population density works out to about 331 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 885 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 33, about 6 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 82 people, about 16 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
