Where is Kalal Majra?

Kalal Majra is a village in Amloh tehsil of Fatehgarh Sahib district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Amloh, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Amloh community development block and is served by the Kalal Majara gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032844, and it covers 308 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 701 people in Kalal Majra: 379 men and 322 women, living in 136 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 308 hectares, the population density works out to about 228 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 850 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 75, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 450 people, about 64 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 70.13 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 75.89 per cent and women at 63.45 per cent. The census recorded 329 workers, about 47 per cent of the village.
