Where is Kalewal?

Kalewal is a village of Khamanon tehsil in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Khamanon, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Khamanon community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032952, and it covers 158 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 964 people in Kalewal: 515 men and 449 women, living in 193 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 158 hectares, the population density works out to about 610 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 872 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 98, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 550 people, about 57 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
