Where is Talwara?

Talwara is a village of Amloh tehsil in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Gobindgarh, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bassi Pathana community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032896, and it covers 256 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,401 people in Talwara: 741 men and 660 women, living in 301 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 256 hectares, the population density works out to about 547 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 891 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 193, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 759 people, about 54 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
