Dhaban Kokarian is a village in Abohar tehsil of Fazilka district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Abohar, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Abohar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035207, and it covers 2,417 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 3,105 people in Dhaban Kokarian: 1,609 men and 1,496 women, living in 553 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 2,417 hectares, the population density works out to about 128 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 930 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 388, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,164 people, about 37 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 62.75 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 69.58 per cent and women at 55.28 per cent. The census recorded 1,005 workers, about 32 per cent of the village. Of the 913 main workers, the largest group, 463, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 386 agricultural labourers and 62 other workers in trade, transport and services. A further 92 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Abohar, the tehsil headquarters, and Fazilka town, the district headquarters, are the practical hubs for administration and onward travel. Neighbouring villages include Bahadar Khera, Raipura, Jodhpura and Rajanwali.
