Where is Misriwala?

Misriwala is a village in Firozpur tehsil of Ferozepur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Firozpur, about 20 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ghall Khurd community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034494, and it covers 390 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,193 people in Misriwala: 613 men and 580 women, living in 230 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 390 hectares, the population density works out to about 306 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 946 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 144, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 621 people, about 52 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 67.3 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.43 per cent and women at 62.14 per cent. The census recorded 417 workers, about 35 per cent of the village. Irrigation came mainly from canals (273 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (64 hectares). About 53 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
