Rukna Bodla is a village in Guru Harsahai tehsil of Ferozepur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Guru Har Sahai, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Guru Har Sahai community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034838, and it covers 138 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 421 people in Rukna Bodla: 213 men and 208 women, living in 74 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 138 hectares, the population density works out to about 305 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 977 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 71, about 17 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 250 people, about 59 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 65.14 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 71.75 per cent and women at 58.38 per cent. The census recorded 163 workers, about 39 per cent of the village. Of the 120 main workers, the largest group, 72, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 30 agricultural labourers and 17 cultivators on their own land. A further 43 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Irrigation came mainly from canals (108 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (21 hectares). About 9 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds. Guru Harsahai, the tehsil headquarters, and Ferozepur town, the district headquarters, are the practical hubs for administration and onward travel. Neighbouring villages include Chak Panje Ke, Qutabgarh and Nure Ke.
