Where is Garhdiwala?

Garhdiwala is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and is served by the Balala gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030911, and it covers 712 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 889 people in Garhdiwala: 446 men and 443 women, living in 180 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 712 hectares, the population density works out to about 125 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 993 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 105, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 695 people, about 78 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 87.24 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 92.82 per cent and women at 81.73 per cent. The census recorded 303 workers, about 34 per cent of the village.
