Where is Alisher?

Alisher is a village in Gurdaspur tehsil of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dhariwal, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kalanour community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 028116, and it covers 125 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 592 people in Alisher: 332 men and 260 women, living in 107 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 125 hectares, the population density works out to about 474 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 783 women for every 1,000 men.
