Where is Dostpur?

Dostpur is a village in Kalanaur tehsil of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dhariwal, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kalanour community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027962, and it covers 569 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,135 people in Dostpur: 1,102 men and 1,033 women, living in 348 households, an average of about 6.1 people per household. Spread over its 569 hectares, the population density works out to about 375 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 937 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 223, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 321 people, about 15 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
