Where is Hansawala?

Hansawala is a village in Khadur Sahib tehsil of Tarn Taran district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Patti, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Khadur Sahib community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038273, and it covers 450 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,860 people in Hansawala: 961 men and 899 women, living in 324 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 450 hectares, the population density works out to about 413 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 935 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 240, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 826 people, about 44 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
