The village falls in the Batala community development block and is served by the Hassanpur Khurd gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 028727, and it covers 226 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,337 people in Hassanpur Kalan: 684 men and 653 women, living in 222 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 226 hectares, the population density works out to about 592 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 955 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 158, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 182 people, about 14 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 67.94 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.19 per cent and women at 63.57 per cent.
