Where is Dhadiala?

Dhadiala is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Urmar Tanda, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Tanda community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030678, and it covers 232 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,110 people in Dhadiala: 583 men and 527 women, living in 233 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 232 hectares, the population density works out to about 478 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 904 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 85, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 593 people, about 53 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 86.05 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 89.93 per cent and women at 81.8 per cent. The census recorded 322 workers, about 29 per cent of the village. Of the 312 main workers, the largest group, 204, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 100 cultivators on their own land and 6 household industry workers. A further 10 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (207 hectares). About 25 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
