Where is Gogron?

Gogron is a village of Garhshankar tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mahilpur, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mahilpur community development block and is served by the Gogran gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031858, and it covers 240 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 684 people in Gogron: 348 men and 336 women, living in 142 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 240 hectares, the population density works out to about 285 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 966 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 85, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 222 people, about 32 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
