The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and is served by the Hussainpur--Guru gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031592, and it covers 145 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,306 people in Hussainpur Guru: 678 men and 628 women, living in 269 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 145 hectares, the population density works out to about 901 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 926 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 165, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 583 people, about 45 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 85.36 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 91.39 per cent and women at 78.87 per cent.
