Kherabad is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030771, and it covers 187 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 993 people in Kherabad: 520 men and 473 women, living in 195 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 187 hectares, the population density works out to about 531 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 910 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 105, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 635 people, about 64 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 84.35 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 89.42 per cent and women at 78.82 per cent. The census recorded 315 workers, about 32 per cent of the village. Of the 234 main workers, the largest group, 163, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 36 other workers in trade, transport and services and 30 cultivators on their own land. A further 81 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (162 hectares). Farm power supply was recorded at 8 hours a day.
