Where is Man?

Man is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-II community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031562, and it covers 92 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,101 people in Man: 533 men and 568 women, living in 224 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 92 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,197 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1066 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 110, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 657 people, about 60 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
