Where is Sakrala?

Sakrala is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Urmar Tanda, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030876, and it covers 280 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 767 people in Sakrala: 387 men and 380 women, living in 165 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 280 hectares, the population density works out to about 274 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 982 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 85, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 213 people, about 28 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
