Where is Unchi Bassi?

Unchi Bassi is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and is served by the Unchi--Bassi gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030997, and it covers 360 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 3,273 people in Unchi Bassi: 1,852 men and 1,421 women, living in 718 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 360 hectares, the population density works out to about 909 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 767 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 323, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 541 people, about 17 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
