Where is Buraj Hassan?

Buraj Hassan is a village of Phillaur tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nurmahal, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nurmahal community development block and is served by the Burj Hassan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030015, and it covers 375 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 764 people in Buraj Hassan: 369 men and 395 women, living in 147 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 375 hectares, the population density works out to about 204 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1070 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 114, about 15 per cent of the village.
