Dhesian Sang is a village of Phillaur tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Goraya, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Rurka Kalan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030211, and it covers 195 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,122 people in Dhesian Sang: 1,041 men and 1,081 women, living in 458 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 195 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,090 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1038 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 208, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,130 people, about 53 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.86 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 85.96 per cent and women at 80 per cent. The census recorded 698 workers, about 33 per cent of the village.
