Kangniwal (Phillaur) is a village of Phillaur tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nurmahal, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Rurka Kalan community development block and is served by the Kangniwal gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030243, and it covers 257 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,180 people in Kangniwal (Phillaur): 617 men and 563 women, living in 265 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 257 hectares, the population density works out to about 459 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 912 women for every 1,000 men.
