Kot Kalan is a village of Jalandhar East tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jalandhar, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (East) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030259, and it covers 231 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,643 people in Kot Kalan: 837 men and 806 women, living in 372 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 231 hectares, the population density works out to about 710 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 963 women for every 1,000 men.
