Where is Machhiana?

Machhiana is a village of Phillaur tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nurmahal, about 13 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Rurka Kalan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030244, and it covers 168 hectares.

The 2011 census counted 207 people in Machhiana: 105 men and 102 women, living in 37 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household.
