Where is Subhana?

Subhana is a village of Jalandhar East tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jalandhar, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (East) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030372, and it covers 57 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,327 people in Subhana: 1,220 men and 1,107 women, living in 524 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 57 hectares, the population density works out to about 4,108 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 907 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 247, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 795 people, about 34 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 84.47 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.74 per cent and women at 79.76 per cent.
