Where is Rampur Sunran?

Rampur Sunran is a village of Phagwara tehsil in Kapurthala district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Phagwara, about 13 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Phagwara community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029603, and it covers 643 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,557 people in Rampur Sunran: 795 men and 762 women, living in 311 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 643 hectares, the population density works out to about 242 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 958 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 159, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 978 people, about 63 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
