Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,172 people in Ghungrali (Khanna): 1,120 men and 1,052 women, living in 436 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 764 hectares, the population density works out to about 284 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 939 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 201, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,479 people, about 68 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.83 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 82.25 per cent and women at 73.08 per cent. Of the 567 main workers, the largest group, 285, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 152 agricultural labourers and 118 cultivators on their own land.
