Where is Lehra?

Lehra is a village of Ludhiana East tehsil in Ludhiana district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mullanpur Dakha, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dehlon community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033543, and it covers 354 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,833 people in Lehra: 973 men and 860 women, living in 362 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 354 hectares, the population density works out to about 518 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 884 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 171, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 878 people, about 48 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.13 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.17 per cent and women at 75.35 per cent. The census recorded 669 workers, about 36 per cent of the village. A further 72 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
