The 2011 directory recorded Mullanpur Dakha, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sidhwan Bet community development block and is served by the Majri gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033807, and it covers 353 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,333 people in Majri (Jagraon): 708 men and 625 women, living in 267 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 353 hectares, the population density works out to about 378 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 883 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 139, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 668 people, about 50 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 79.73 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 85.78 per cent and women at 73.06 per cent. The census recorded 434 workers, about 33 per cent of the village. Of the 424 main workers, the largest group, 161, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 142 agricultural labourers and 115 other workers in trade, transport and services. A further 10 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
